22,000 sf

As part of a comprehensive upgrade of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory, this 22,000 sf facility houses two new beamlines that will enhance the laboratory's capabilities and maintain its status as a world-leading facility for X-ray science.

The Long Beamline Building will house: 1) The In Situ Nanoprobe (ISN) – a 250-meter (820-foot) beamline specifically designed for tightly focused in-situ imaging down to 20 nanometers. 2) The High-Energy X-ray Microscope (HEXM) –designed for higher-energy X-rays that can penetrate into denser materials utilizing a new 180-meter (590-foot) beamline.  The facility will also contain a wet lab, activated materials lab, and office and conference room spaces.
