The exterior walls of the Burberry store on Michigan Avenue are a combination of black stainless steel, monolithic spandrel glass and LED lighting designed to emulate Burberry’s signature tartan pattern. The 27-foot interior staircase is also backlit with LEDs and can be seen at night.

Live runway shows and globally synchronized content are broadcast on floor-to-ceiling digital walls. All fitting rooms are equipped with iPhone docking stations, and a children’s play table embedded with iPads.

Mock-ups and Manufacturer Visits Assured Exact Fit

As part of the early review process, the project team visited the curtainwall manufacturer in Shanghai to construct a visual curtainwall mockup. A common part of Power's quality control process, the mock-up ensures that each piece of glass, steel, and lighting would fit its exact location on the façade.
