The signature residences of 465 North Park provide two glassy, ellipse-shaped towers to complement the skyline in Streeterville. The luxury towers include 444 apartment units, 10 townhomes, and two rooftop amenity decks. A color-changing LED crown wraps around the top of the building and is supported with 26 steel columns tied into an intricate catwalk system on the top floor.
Utilizing the Latest Techniques to Reduce Building Movement
The luxury high-rise is the second building in the city of Chicago to incorporate a damper tank to prevent the building from swaying in high winds. Sixteen specialized "fins" sit in water inside the tank and shift to counteract strong winds to the South, which then pushes the momentum of the building to the North and reduces the feeling of sway for occupants. This slosh damper tank uses tons of water, instead of steel, to add weight to the top of the building.
